There are MANY bonuses to small town living. It is important to co-exist with other residents and make sure that everyone is enjoying their best quality of life here. Sometimes the rules or laws differ by Borough, city or region so the Borough of Portland will be uploading its ordinances so everyone, including new residents, are aware of the ordinances they must abide by while living in the Borough.
An ordinance is a law or rule made by a governmental authority, especially a municipal government or a city or regional government. It is a type of legislative act or decree. An ordinance may regulate various aspects of local life, such as construction, parking, or renting.
A lot of big and small responsibilities go into making a Borough function properly and most of the roles that oversee and perform these functions are done on a volunteer basis. Because of this, there is limited time available so we will begin uploading the most frequently requested ordinances first and we will highlight them as we do!
